CIC Held 2021 International Advisory Council Meeting

14-10-2021

CIC 2021 International Advisory Council (IAC) Meeting was held virtually on October 12. Mr. Peng Chun, Chairman and CEO of CIC, delivered the opening remarks. 12 IAC members attended and spoke at the meeting, which was chaired by Mr. Ju Weimin, Vice-Chairman, President & CIO of CIC.

The theme of 2021 IAC meeting is “Responsible Investing and the Way Forward”. In his opening remarks, Chairman Peng Chun gave an update on CIC’s latest developments, especially its sustainable investment framework, responsible investment practices, and guidelines for navigating development in the post-pandemic era. Mr. Peng said that faced with the ever-changing international landscape and an investment environment of both opportunities and challenges, CIC will remain committed to operating on an international, market-driven and professional basis, and build itself into a world-class sovereign wealth fund by updating its approaches to strategy implementation, strengthening international investment collaboration, and innovating modalities for outbound investment.

IAC members exchanged views on three topics, including global landscape in the post-pandemic era, sustainable investment trends, and institutional investment capacity building. The discussion shed light on the current macro-economic landscape, policy environment, and opportunities and challenges faced by institutional investors, providing valuable advice on understanding post-pandemic investment trends, effectively allocating resources globally, and conducting high-quality sustainable investment.

With more than 200 participants, the meeting was also attended either physically or virtually by CIC’s senior executives and department heads, and representatives of overseas offices, investment teams and Central Huijin’s portfolio companies.

The IAC was established in July 2009 with a mandate to advise CIC on its development strategy and investment business. It convenes annually and is composed of distinguished international experts from diverse backgrounds in government, business, and academia. The IAC also furnishes CIC’s executives and staff with insights on geopolitical and macro-economic developments, international financial market conditions, and global investment trends.
